New England Randonneurs

Here’s an update from Sarah who designed and is running the upcoming overnight 200k on August 20th:

Thanks to everyone who came out for the overnight ride. It was a perfect evening for a great event. Thanks Sarah for organizing and RSC for staying out late and opening early.

I (Jake) wrote a ride report for the overnight ride. If other riders have reports from this or other events, please send me a link or copy that I can post.

Thanks to the 25 riders who started the MA 600k out of Concord, MA. The weather prediction was spot on: Mid-90s with strong sun both days. It’s rare to get weather this hot in New England so this ride proved to be challenging beyond the already hilly course. Riders where smart: Those that had trouble in the heat made the good decision to abandon before getting into serious trouble — heat stroke is no joke. In the end 15 riders make it back to Concord via bike. Congratulations!

Thanks for the volunteers who helped: Ted who operated a water stop around the CT boarder and Henry who rode out early Sunday morning to greet the first riders back. And a HUGE THANK YOU to Bruce and Julie MacDonald who graciously gave up their home in Williamstown, MA and hosted the overnight control. For a 2nd year in a row they provided riders with a fantastic dinner and hospitality. We couldn’t have done it without these people so please thank them when you see them on the road.

VT 400k – July 16th: Please note the route was updated on July 12th based on a pre-ride of the course. No major changes however an alternate control was selected in North Troy and a few detours were added to avoid construction.

MA 600k – July 23rd: More details and photos have been added to the route info page. The revised route which starts in Concord, MA and adds Eastford, CT as a control point has been approved by RUSA and is good to go. Should be a fun ride through four New England states.
