Note: The most up-to-date NER calendar is located on the Results Page and is updated automatically whenever RUSA events get added or changed.
RUSA Membership: Starting in a currently-active RUSA Membership is required for entry into all NER Events. This is NOT an NER membership and you must purchase it directly from RUSA. To join RUSA or renew your membership, go to RUSA.org.
NER Membership: NER membership is optional! NER membership gives riders an additional way to support the organization and allows members to vote in NER board elections. There’s usually some swag as well. But as a reminder, it’s optional; what is NOT optional is RUSA membership.
Season Pass: A Season Pass will be available from BikeReg in Feburary before the first event. With a Season Pass you can pre-register for all events without additional fees and it saves riders a considerable amount of money and time if they plan to ride more than a few events. RUSA membership is still required.
Pre-Registration: Online pre-registration is required for all events. Please email the NER RBA (rba@nerandonneurs.org) if you miss the cut off for online registration to inquire about options – we do not guarantee we can add you in but we may be able to; please do email us! The RUSA Permanent program is another good option for riders who can’t ride the event with the group.
Ride and membership costs: NER tries to keep costs manageable at all of our events. However, if the price of RUSA membership and/or the cost of NER rides is holding you back from participating, please do contact us! Scholarships/reduced fees are possible and we would love to have you ride with us!
Required Safety Equipment: Required for any rides starting before dawn or finishing after dusk (even if you expect to finish before dusk). Bikes must be equipped with a front headlight(s) and solid rear taillight(s). Riders must wear a reflective vest or sash and reflective legbands. Full details on the Questions & Answers page.
Alternative Distance Option: Some rides have multiple distance options. Riders may only register for a single distance and will be considered a DNF (did not finish) if they switch distances mid-route.
Cue Sheet & GPS Routes: When registering, riders can request a paper cue sheet be printed and given to them at the start or they can print the cue at home a day or two before the ride. We generally have a few extra copies for riders who intended to print themselves but were not able to. Do not load the route on your GPS until a day before the ride (or later) as last minute changes are sometimes needed. Double-check the NER homepage before leaving for the start for any last minute announcements. There will generally be a final email sent after registration closes with GPS links and other information.
Route Sanctioning: All events sanctioned by RUSA. See the event detail pages for ACP sanctioning. The difference in sanctioning generally matters only to riders looking to qualify for international events (PBP, LEL, etc) or for ACP awards (Super Randonneur medals, etc).
