Thanks for everyone who came out for the 300k this past weekend. We had 55 starters for the 300k and 11 starters for the 200k. It was a dry but cold day with temps dipping below freezing in the morning and only getting to the lower 50s at the warmest parts of the day. This is a hard route and everyone who started should be commended. <\/p>\n
We had 8 DNFs — a surprising number of these were mechanical problems, most of which were unexpected. We also had a number of nutritional and pain related DNFs though thankfully no one came away seriously hurt. Cold days like this make it difficult to dress correctly and eat\/drink on the bike — I’ve been there myself.<\/p>\n
One thing to remember: We sometimes offer SAG support back to the start when possible but asking for it puts a big burden on volunteers who don’t aways have the time or ability to go out and pick someone up. Before starting any NER ride please discuss the possibility of needing a lift from a friend or family member even if you expect to be fine. If you don’t have a backup plan, you shouldn’t start.<\/p>\n
At the finish someone left a nice, thick pair of Marmot gloves and a white framed paid of sunglasses. If either of these are yours please contact me. <\/p>\n

This weekend the Fleche application is due! I’ve had two teams apply so far with a few others planning for it. Remember that we have a Dart and Dart Populaire for rides looking for a shorter options. One sad note is that fantastic “Pepper Club” which was going to be the brunch spot has closed; another location will be booked nearby once I have a count of how many people to expect. <\/p>\n
Also, the VT “Green Mountain 200k” was recently approved by RUSA making this route official! This is a great new ACP 200k route hosted by David Cain on May 9th. With only 6000′ of climbing it’s somewhat gentle compared to some of our other 200ks. The event is May 9th and registration is now open. Come to VT — it’s worth the drive if you aren’t local! <\/p>\n
